AI connections support the tasks listed here. Some actions remain tasks you perform yourself, including uploading files, changing passwords and installing updates.
Which AI changes need my approval?
A read-only connection cannot change records. If you allow changes, actions such as creating programs and saving drafts can run immediately. The actions listed below require approval in Reward Loyalty.
- The AI client asks for a change that requires approval.
- Reward Loyalty records the request and answers with a review link. Nothing has changed.
- You open the link, read what would change, and click Approve or Reject.
- If you approve, the client runs the change. Reward Loyalty checks it again first and runs it at most once.
The connection owner must approve the request, and the assistant must execute it, within 10 minutes of preparation. Approval does not extend that deadline. How approvals work
Waits for your approval
- Deleting a business, a member, a program or other records
- Sending an email campaign to members
- Changes that email members at once, such as switching on an automatic email or a tier change that moves members
- Recording sales, spending or reversals of prepaid-pass credit. These actions update prepaid-pass records; payments are handled separately by the business.
- Changing a business’s plan, deactivating a business or editing a plan
- Purging activity logs or inactive anonymous members
Runs at once, if the connection may make changes
- Creating and editing programs, segments and email drafts, unless the change emails members or moves them between tiers
- Staff tasks such as adding points or stamps. Undo is limited to the latest eligible entry and is refused if a newer entry exists.
- Running an administrator’s scheduled task can take effect immediately, including tasks that send emails or expire points.
Where your data goes.
Reward Loyalty runs on your hosting. When your assistant requests records, Reward Loyalty sends it the information its access allows. If the assistant uses a cloud provider, that provider receives the retrieved information under its terms.
- Where it runs
- On your installation. The AI client sends its requests to your address. The assistant connects directly to your Reward Loyalty installation.
- Access
- Read everything permits no changes. Despite its name, Read and make changes you approve also permits changes that run immediately; only the specified actions wait for approval. Custom lets you choose access by area. You also choose when it ends. A connection never does more than the person who made it.
- Ending it
- End any connection on the AI connections page. Its next request fails.
- What a client keeps
- Whatever it already read. Ending a connection stops new reads. It can’t delete data the client or its provider stored.
- Activity record
- Each connection lists what it did, from the activity log.
Do I need to pay for AI?
No AI subscription is needed to use Reward Loyalty. If you choose AI control, you use your own compatible assistant account and pay any provider charges separately. Your account and organisation settings must permit the required connection.

The platform owner enables AI connections first. A business owner needs AI connections and Agent API enabled, the Integration API keys permission, and a service plan that includes Agent API access.

How the MCP server works.
Your assistant asks. Your server checks access and runs the tool. The built-in MCP server uses Model Context Protocol, the standard that connects AI assistants to software.

Some changes return a review link. You approve in Reward Loyalty; your assistant then executes the request.
Technical details
MCP tools use the Agent API’s underlying operations, but their approval requirements differ. Some deletes and prepaid-credit changes require approval over MCP and run immediately over the HTTP API.
Claude and ChatGPT connect from their own servers, so your address must be reachable from the internet. Browser sign-in also needs HTTPS, requests for /.well-known routed to the app, and the app at the root of its domain. Key-based connections do not require browser sign-in discovery or installation at the domain root. Use HTTPS for the connection.
- Transport
- Streamable HTTP at /mcp with JSON responses. Each request stands alone, with no session or open stream. GET and DELETE answer 405.
- Sign-in
- OAuth 2.1 authorization code with PKCE (S256), dynamic client registration and Client ID Metadata Documents, discovered through protected-resource metadata. Refresh tokens rotate. Or send a key as a bearer token.
- Tools
- One tool per Agent API operation, generated from the OpenAPI specification. When a connection’s list would pass 90 tools or 150 KB, some families move behind two tools that describe and run them. Each tool has a title, JSON Schema 2020-12 input and output schemas, and readOnlyHint, destructiveHint, idempotentHint and openWorldHint annotations.
- Safety
- Every MCP write requires an idempotency key; the HTTP API’s header is optional, and a retry of a write that succeeded returns the stored answer. Tools that require approval return a request instead of running. Each key and each caller’s IP address has a rate limit. Every tool call writes one activity log row.
- Jobs and views
- Clients that support MCP prompts list ready-made jobs, such as a weekly report. Clients that support MCP Apps draw program previews, approval cards and overview snapshots. Every result also arrives as text and structured data.
