Creating Rewards (For Business Owners)

Define what customers can earn with their points

Dec 5, 2025

Rewards are the incentives that make your loyalty program valuable. Customers save points to redeem them for rewards you define.

Before Creating Cards

Create your rewards before creating loyalty cards. When you build a card, you'll select which rewards it offers.

Creating a Reward

  1. Go to Rewards in the partner sidebar
  2. Click Create Reward
  3. Fill in the details:
Field Description
Name What the reward is called (e.g., "Free Coffee")
Description Details about the reward
Points Required How many points to redeem
Active Whether this reward is currently available
  1. Click Save

Reward Examples

Coffee Shop:

  • Free Small Coffee — 50 points
  • Free Large Coffee — 80 points
  • Free Pastry — 100 points

Restaurant:

  • Free Appetizer — 150 points
  • 10% Off — 100 points
  • Free Dessert — 200 points

Retail Store:

  • $5 Store Credit — 100 points
  • $10 Store Credit — 180 points
  • 15% Off Purchase — 250 points

Setting Point Values

Consider your average transaction and desired redemption frequency:

Low threshold (50-100 points): Customers redeem often. Good for frequent, low-value purchases.

Medium threshold (150-300 points): Balance between accessibility and value. Works for most businesses.

High threshold (500+ points): Premium rewards for loyal customers. Creates aspirational goals.

Multiple Tiers

Offer rewards at different point levels. This gives customers choices:

  • Quick wins (low points) keep them engaged
  • Premium rewards (high points) give them something to save for

Editing Rewards

Changes to rewards take effect immediately:

  • Increasing points: Existing balances still work toward the new threshold
  • Decreasing points: Customers closer to redemption can claim sooner
  • Deactivating: Reward no longer appears, but previously redeemed rewards stay in history

Best Practices

Be specific. "Free Medium Latte" is better than "Free Drink."

Price competitively. Points should feel valuable. If rewards cost too many points, customers lose interest.

Update seasonally. Special rewards during holidays drive engagement.
