Apple Wallet passes.

Let members save signed loyalty cards, stamp cards, vouchers, and prepaid passes to Apple Wallet.

Sep 4, 2026

Reward Loyalty can create signed Apple Wallet passes for loyalty cards, stamp cards, vouchers, and issued prepaid passes. Members add them from the program page on an iPhone or compatible Mac. The pass keeps the business branding and opens the same staff-authorized workflow as the QR in Reward Loyalty.

Apple Wallet is included with Gold and Platinum by default. An administrator can grant or revoke it for one business independently of the plan.

What the foundation does

Feature Behavior
Four pass kinds Loyalty card, stamp card, voucher, and each issued prepaid pass
Local signing Your installation creates the package with your Apple Pass Type ID certificate; no hosted pass vendor is involved
Safe QR The QR opens Reward Loyalty's existing staff flow. A pass never awards or redeems value by itself
Business controls Enable individual programs, inherit their design or choose Wallet-specific colors, images, focal point, and primary language
Member action Reward Loyalty includes Apple's official localized badge and shows it when the platform, plan, program, member relationship, and device are ready
Download analytics Businesses see completed downloads, unique passes, repeat downloads, cache rate, pass kinds, and products for 7, 30, or 90 days
Private custody Certificates and generated packages stay outside public storage; secret values never return through the UI or API

Static means no changing values

This release creates static passes. Each pass carries the business and program name, pass kind, action hint, branding, a staff QR, and a fallback scan code. The back gives the member links for Current details, Support, and Privacy.

The pass does not show points, stamp totals, tier, voucher state, remaining visits, or dates. Those values stay in Reward Loyalty, so the pass cannot become visually stale when a member earns or uses value. Staff resolve the QR against current server data at scan time.

A member adds the pass again only after the business changes its name, colors, or Wallet artwork, or after a pass is suspended, revoked, or recovered. Reward Loyalty does not claim that a download was installed or viewed. It cannot remove a static pass from a member's device. Automatic in-Wallet updates are not part of this release.

Who does what

Role Responsibility
Administrator Maintain the Apple Developer membership and signing identity, choose eligible plans or partner overrides, monitor health and expiry, and keep recovery backups
Business Enable Apple Wallet per program, choose appearance, test a non-redeemable sample, and read download analytics
Member Open the signed-in program page on a supported Apple device, add or replace the pass, and remove it from Apple Wallet when no longer wanted
Staff Scan the pass QR and complete the same authorized action used elsewhere in Reward Loyalty

Set it up

  1. Follow Administrator setup and certificate custody.
  2. Let a business follow Business controls and pass design.
  3. Test all four pass kinds with Testing and troubleshooting.
  4. Give members Using an Apple Wallet pass.

Certificate renewal keeps the same Pass Type ID and does not need an identity reset. The Break glass action is reserved for changing the issuer identity after passes exist. Read the guided reset explanation before using it.
